The Portal of Perception

The Portal of Perception is a public art sculpture at the Loussac Public Library in Anchorage, Alaska.

This sculpture depicts the incredible power of the written word to transform reality through the minds of the reader. Like an open book, the human eye acts as a portal into imagination, information, and worlds beyond. The Portal of Perception takes viewers on a journey through the inner workings of the mind, and out into the open terrain of innovation and creation, leading to the cosmos and beyond. This sculpture represents the real, the unreal, and the yet to be imagined, all of which can be accessed through the pages of books.
